Two Months After Hurricane Katrina – Gulf Coast Shores

I’m in New Orleans and access to the Internet is very complicated and difficult. I will write more about my experiences here, but here are some photos taken on the drive over along Highway 90 through the Gulf Shore area of Mississippi.

I want you to remember that this area is almost 100 miles from New Orleans. I’ve been told that the devastation covers “90,000 square miles (233,000 km²) of the United States, an area almost as large as the United Kingdom”, according to Wikipedia.

The WordPress Bug Hunters put on their camo and carried the big guns and tracked down and destroyed about 100 bugs in WordPress, making the world of blogging a safer place. […]

  • […] Ocean Springs, Biloxi, and nearby communities in Mississippi were hit the hardest by the storm surge. A recent mecca for gamblers, floating casinos were picked up, cracked like eyes, and tossed upon the shore, hundreds of feet inland. Whole neighborhoods were smashed to bits, with hardly any wreckage as the water and wind shoved it all inland, smashing everything into the finest splinters. […]
