Hi,my name is Rcahhel Sund, and I live in Trinidad,in the West Indies. I’m trying to locate my paternal grandfather’s family, who himself was form Norway. His name was Erling Sund, and all I know is that he was an engineer on the ship “DALVUNGIN” (I’m sorry, I don’t even know the correct spelling). His ship was sunk, in WWII somewhere aroung 1943. He was married to my grandmother Aileen Estelle
Sund nee Ross, and they had a child, Erling Sund (Jnr), who was my father, now deceased.
Any information that you have will be greatly appreiciated,as I’ve wanted to know for so long
Or if you can pinpoint me where I can start my search, I’ll be very thankful.

I am not an expert in Norway genealogy. I haven’t even been able to track my own family across the sea, though I’m trying.
Keep searching. There is a lot of Norwegian ancestry information now available online. Hopefully, I’ll find a connection myself soon.

You don’t know when he was born? There was an Erling Sundt born 1891 in Bergen. His parents were Gerhard Sundt born 1850, a shopkeeper, and his wife, Anna Sophia, born 1859.
