Links to the Past Blog for Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Manitowoc County Wisconsin Genealogy and History

Links To The Past is a blog dedicated to Milwaukee, Waukesha, Manitowoc County Wisconsin Genealogy and History. This is fabulous as I have family history in Manitowoc and neighboring communities.

However, I can’t find an About page, so I have little information on the author or folks behind this helpful blog. I did find a link to “what’s old” which shows a page with massive information dating back to February 2001 on these Michigan counties and genealogy research. Wow! I’d love to know more about the history of who is behind this.

Even so, while the information is often scattered, more diary than technical, discussing what has been added (to where, who knows?) and updated, it is still jam packed with tidbits that may help you with your family history research in the Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Manitowoc Counties of Wisconsin.

Here are some categories of information they offer:

I’d also recommend to them a good “how to use this site” instruction page to help future visitors understand what this is all about and how to find the information referred to in the posts.

I spotted your article here and hadn’t realized how difficult it was to figure out where to get back to. I have now added an about blog page which contains the following:

The LinksToThePast blog was created as a what’s new section for the LinksToThePast.com website. Links To The Past Online Genealogy and Family History Library was put together primarily through the efforts of a volunteer webmaster, Ellen Rohr, and the many, many volunteers that have contributed to the site. The site contains a 10 year plus collection of genealogical resources and information including birth, marriage, death & burial, obituary & cemetery information, marine, military history and veteran lists, and community information for areas of Wisconsin.

I started as a genealogy transcriber for Manitowoc County Wisconsin with Shari Milks. Then adopted Waukesha County from Jan Cortez. As I started collecting data for Waukesha County I found many surnames crossed county lines and either originally settled in Milwaukee or vice versa. I then started the Milwaukee County site as a holding place for all the cross references. I then put together a site for the Spanish American War veterans of Wisconsin and thanks to Shari and a handful of transcribers, we also put together a Great Lakes Maritime history site.

To the right under genealogy links you will find links to where all the marvelous information that is referenced as what’s new can be found or you can click on the link below to get to the main page of the Links To The Past Site.

    Hi Ellen,
Our Township of Gibson, Manitowoc, WI will be celebrating its 150th anniversary in Sept. Have found information about the village of Fischerville which was credited to your website. We are asking your permission to publish the information about the history of Fischerville in our sesquicentennial booklet.
    Please answer our request.
